Been playing since first wave of invites to closed beta.
The game has definitely gotten better in some areas. but truthfully, it has otherwise began to stagnate.
Typically, adding in new content freshens up the game, and adds in plenty of play time value. Currently, with PC being all but locked off to anyone without 16 ridiculous slayers that can go 30-0 consistently, or what-have-you, and with the dwindling player base (mostly due to bugs, and said stagnation), even adding new guns/suits can not overpower the dead pigs in the trunk. I think a lot of vets came back, and saw the new stuff, and thought it was pretty cool (As I did), but then saw all the bugs, and how broken certain aspects of the game are now with cloaky shotguns, and other ridiculous imbalances, and just decided to continue to wait it out.
I think PvE would bring a lot of new people in, and old people back. But the true thing that would bring people flooding in to this game is allowing us to affect Sovereign space holders in EVE. or even if they just allowed us to do something about Technetium moons, like either mine the stuff ourselves and sell it on the EVE market, or (even better) effect import/export by either sabotaging PoCo's, or interfering with mining equipment... something. jut let us effect players in EVE, and vis versa. (Allow EVE players to drop an independent orbital perhaps.. but only in nullsec)
At any rate... as far as just staying a lobby shooter with very little to actually do with EVE... this game just seems like it's getting super stagnant. Opening up the market.. making it super in-depth like EVE's.. Allowing us to do PvE for minerals, and actually CRAFT OUR OWN GEAR!!!!... these things would add a TON of extra depth to this game, which it sorely needs.
Anyway.. sorry. it's late and I went off on a tangent. The game is better as a whole, barring bugs. but the true issue as far as the current affairs, is balance between vehicles and infantry. thats always been a hot-button topic, and there doesn't seem to be an easy, all-pleasing answer in sight. The best I can come up with is just make the maps a lot less vehicle-friendly. Add in a lot more cover/random objects that obscure vehicle LOS/movement.
The maps have always been far, FAR too open, making the game extremely visually dull/boring, and giving long-range weaponry and vehicles an extreme advantage on most maps. even tight-area maps like Ashland still give enough room for vehicles to cover almost every letter directly. If it's not a tank, it's some form of drop ship.
Dust still has a lot of potential, but some drastic changes may have to be made, but in the correct increments, and proper order, otherwise CCP risks ruining the game even further. Also... DUST needs more diversity. Currently, there is really only one core gameplay mechanic. Kill/death. The game doesn't even notify us of ISK efficiency. I mean, I was thrilled when they gave us the kill screen to see what the guy who just killed you is using, but that was as far as they went with it, unfortunately. I'd like to see some form of mining, crafting, and/or just exploration. Possibly all of them tied in with PvE. also, something like the EVE market, which honestly... I could sit on for hours, just looking at sale/area tendencies, and prices.
first off though, please, PLEASE allow our mercs to move between stations somehow!!! Perhaps let us put up contracts to deliver a clone to a station, so that we can jump to that clone upon delivery? *shrug*, don't care how, but I want to be able to check out different local chats, and other stations, as well as perhaps have a corp hangar!
so much potential... |
